Every class at Williamsburg Northside has a class representative to serve as a liaison between the Parent Association (PA), teachers, and the parents in your class. The PA is looking for one or two moms or dads from each classroom to fill this position as "Class Parent" for the 2017-2018 school year. Serving as a Class Parent s a fun way to be involved in the school community and should only take up a few hours of your time at various points throughout the year.
WHAT DOES A CLASS PARENT DO?
A Class Parent attends PA meetings as often as their schedule allows and communicates relevant information to fellow parents.
He/she is responsible for sharing information about school events such as school-wide play dates, the annual fundraiser, teacher appreciation day, classroom potlucks, holiday gifts, end-of-year teacher gifts, volunteer opportunities, and any other events. The PA and class parent coordinator will keep all Class Parents up-to-date on what needs to be communicated and when in this regard.
The role includes helping coordinate a class donation basket for the annual spring fundraiser and communicating volunteer opportunities to fellow parents in the class, as well as coordinating or communicating about teacher holiday and end-of-year gifts.
WHAT IS THE CLASS PARENT NOMINATION PROCESS?
1. Any parent/guardian at WNS may volunteer themselves to serve as Class Parent. The desire to do so should be made by submitting the electronic form to the PA by Friday, October 20th.
2. On the deadline date, in any class, if one parent has volunteered, he/she will be awarded the position and notified via email. If two parents have volunteered, they will both be awarded the position as co-Class Parents and both will be notified via email. Responsibilities can be divided among one another as needed. If more than two parents have volunteered and none of them have served as Class Parent in the past, then the PA will draw two names randomly at the next PA meeting and will notify all applicants of the results. "Winners" will serve as co-Class Parents. If more than two parents have volunteered and one or more have served as Class Parent in the past, the names of the parent(s) who have previously served as Class Parent will be withdrawn from the process in an effort to give new parents an opportunity to serve.
